Nutmeg & Mace
The nutmeg tree is native to the tropical Indonesia and the country is the world’s largest source of nutmeg and mace. Nutmeg is the oval-shaped inner nut, and mace is the bright red webbing that surrounds the shell of the nut. Nutmeg and Mace have substantailly different flavor profiles and industrial applications. Mace is often described as spicier and more pungent. Whereas, Nutmeg , is often described as less intense than its sibling with sweetness similar to cinnamon (although slighly more robust).
